• Use case description: This use case specifically focuses on increasing the interoperability and improving the communication between aircraft assembly and the industrial system design. Airbus aims to use ontologies to support trade-off decision making, represent domain and process knowledge explicitly and improve traceability of the decisions made during the design and assembly processes. The use case is based on a product aircraft design and its orbital joint process design, with input from the QU4LITY project pilot. An application ontology has been developed for this scenario, primarily based on documented historical system specifications and expert feedback.

  • Use case goal:  This use case aims to overcoming bottlenecks concerning interoperabilty and data standardisation and to enable different collaborative engineering of different domains using ontology-based engineering method.
